Top Tips for a Stellar Fatbiking Experience

To make the most of your rental and enjoy your time on the trails, here are our top tips for fatbiking success:

  • Dress for the Weather: Layer up to stay warm and dry. Opt for moisture-wicking base layers, insulated jackets, and windproof outerwear. Don’t forget a good quality pair of gloves, a balaclava or helmet liner, warm socks, and insulated boots.
  • Adjust Your Tire Pressure: Lower tire pressure (between 4-16 PSI) provides better traction on snow and ice. We’ll help you set it up according to your weight and conditions before you hit the trails.
  • Pack Essentials: Bring water, snacks, and a basic repair kit. Winter riding burns more calories, so staying fuelled and hydrated is key.
  • Check Conditions: Before you get ready to ride, check snow conditions and the weather forecast, and plan accordingly. Nothing can ruin a ride faster than poor conditions (and poorer planning).
  • Ride Groomed Trails: For the best experience, stick to trails designed for fatbiking (see below). Groomed trails provide a smooth, packed-down surface, making it easier and more enjoyable to ride.
